AC Entertainment’s Big Ears Festival returns to Knoxville this coming spring, March 28-30. Abnormally large ears are not a requirement to attend this weekend of eclectic, abstract music, art exhibitions, discussions, and film screenings—a format that seems to prove successful for AC, as we saw this past October with Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit. Much like Mountain Oasis, Big Ears brings the cream of the crop music visionaries, but in more genres than electronic. This festival gears more toward the classical listener, music theory brainiac, sound art hound, and experimental music junkie. Acts include Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Steve Reich, Radiohead guitarist Johnny Greenwood, Velvet Underground’s John Cale, Television, Tim Hecker, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Nils Frahm, among others. Weekend passes go for $150 (+fees) starting this Friday, December 6 at 11 a.m. and can be purchased on the festival website.
