CMT Crossroads is known for its unlikely pairings – Taylor Swift and Def Leppard, Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler, and Rascal Flatts and Journey among them – but the latest one might just take the cake: platinum-selling country trio The Band Perry and pop punk turned pop rockers Fall Out Boy are set to come together next week, Oct. 2, for a taping at Rocketown. Per the norm of the show, the two acts are expected to collaborate, swap stories, and potentially cover one another’s material.
The event is invite-only, but we may have some ideas for how you can score tickets – stay tuned. Fall Out Boy aren’t the first rock band to grace Crossroads, but they are the first band of a punk background to make an appearance on the show. As you may recall, we broke news of the rockers’ reunion earlier this year, and they made a stop at our own Ryman Auditorium in June. They won’t hit Nashville on their current arena tour, but you can catch the band in Memphis this Friday, Sept. 27. The closest upcoming Band Perry date is Huntsville, Oct. 11.
After the jump, check out tracks from both artists, and start imaging those sweet, sweet crossover harmonies. The air date for the special has yet to be announced, but we’ll keep you posted!
