Alright Nashville, we have that all of you are either recovering from SXSW or from the insane start of the week that we’ve had. It’s time for you (and me) to get off the couch. Tonight we have a couple of options for you. If you are feeling up for some energetic, fuzzy, garage-y power pop, then you will want to head over to Exit/In for Chicago’s White Mystery along with our Nashville pals Fancytramp, Tipper Whore, & Bully (tickets here). If you want a slightly groovier vibe, then we would recommend hitting up Mercy Lounge for the Michigan-based The Soil & The Sun with Nashville’s Sol Cat and Chicago’s Kellen & Me (tickets here).
Either show will cost you $8, so that’s a push. Really, you should skip past the jump to check out a bunch of embeds from each of the bands, and figure out where you are going to take your ears on a date tonight. Get out to see some live music.
Exit/In Show
White Mystery is a brother sister duo from Chicago that are getting quite a bit of hype right now. They are rolling through town after11 their sets last weekend as an official SXSW selection in Austin, and they are bringing with them some killer licks. Have a listen to some select tracks from their upcoming LP Telepathic below.
I’ve seen Fancytramp around town a couple of times, and I’m pretty sure I’ve attached the Battletapes recorded EP Singing At Sunset somewhere in this blog before following it’s release in the Summer of 2012. It was most aptly described to me recently as a sexier, pixier Sleater-Kinney, so I’ll stick with that. You can be the judge for yourself below.
Tipper Whore dropped this fun video the other day for their track “Two Sticks”, and the poppy beats are certainly something that I would recommend heading out to see tonight. Not to mention, you might see TW and their friends parade around the crowd like they did the camera in the video below.
Things get started with a new to me Nashville band Bully around 8:30. We can both listen to their self titled EP below to get ready for what to expect as we are cracking our first beer.
Mercy Lounge Show
If the above bill doesn’t sound like your speed tonight, then head over to Mercy Lounge to check out The Soil & The Sun out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. I spent a little bit of time with this record when it first arrived in the inbox last summer, and it can certainly mellow the harsh (to speak in the anti-vernacular of the day). You can check out their 2012 release What Wonder Is The Universe below.
You also get to check out one of our long time faves Sol Cat. These guys took on the competition in the last Road To Bonnaroo. While they might have lost that battle (barely), they are still right at the top with release of their self-titled debut LP back in February. You can enjoy that sucker below.
Things get started with the introspective rock sounds of Chicago’s Kellen & Me. These guys get things started around 9pm, and you can check out their self-titled EP below.
