Chillwave indie-pop funkster Toro y Moi (a.k.a. Chazwick Bundick) is all the rage across the internet these days.  With the upcoming release of another EP, Freaking Out, to follow up his second LP, Underneath The Pine, released in February 2011, multi-instrumentalist Chaz (Can I call you Chaz?  what’s that?  oh, you didn’t answer, so sure I can call you Chaz) is clearly hard at work.

Chaz has released two LPs on Carpark Records, Causers Of This and Underneath The Pine; seven various EPs; and has a significant number of remixes under his belt including The Longcut, Neon Indian, Tegan and Sara, Cut Copy, and his old college buddy from the University of South Carolina Washed Out (aka Ernest Greene).

Pitchfork listed the track “Blessa” from the 2010 LP Causers Of This as #75 on their top 100 of 2010.  The guy is clearly talented, and I am interested to hear how all of these produced sounds translate in a live setting.  A few tracks from the new LP are included below to get you acquainted.

Opening band Coma Cinema (aka fellow South Carolinian, Mat Cothran) is equally intriguing… Mat has received mixed reviews with most of the negative being that of the slightly depressing lyrical content.  One cool thing about Coma Cinema is that they are offering all of their records for free download (not even an email is necessary) at their website.  The only compensation they ask for is that you share them with your friends.

The first opening band of the night is Nashville’s experimental pop-rock band Tallest Trees who are also worth checking out.  Link over to their myspace page to hear a bit of them.

If you really hate it you can go to the Glitch Mob, Phantogram, Com Truise show next door at Exit/In.
