If the current state of affairs in the world today has you feeling down, and you need a little reminder that there are still people looking to spread positivity through song everywhere they go, look no further than local jam reggae-rock outfit Roots of a Rebellion, and their very special Jam-O de Mayo show tonight, May 5 at Exit/ In. With help from Alabama based prog/jam rockers CBDB in the warmup spot, it promises to be a great night of music, chock full of heady licks. Tunes start at 9 p.m., and tickets to the 18+ show are available here, but make haste, because ROAR’s local following seems to be growing with every show, and you’ll want a good spot for this one.
We also recently spoke to primary singer and guitarist Austin Smith, who told us that a new ROAR Summer Sampler is in the works (they did something similar in ’13). It will feature b-sides from their 2016 release, A Brother’s Instinct, plus some songs performed live, instrumentals, and reggae dubs. They’re shooting for 10-15 tracks in total, and they’ll release the sampler on their Bandcamp page for pay-what-you-want. Proceeds will help the Tennessee Reggae lynchpins on their East Coast tour, scheduled already in June. So catch the local favorites now, beofore they hit the road, for a slice of Nashville’s surpassingly vibrant jam and reggae scene.
Roots of a Rebellion and CBDB will perform tonight, May 5 at Exit/ In. The show is 18+, begins at 9 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.), and tickets are available to purchase for $15.
