Looking to start the weekend off right? That’s a noble goal, and there could be no better way to achieve it than with a slice of pizza and some beer while listening to local rock group The Daily Howl over at Soulshine. This four piece utilizes influences from both classic rock and the modern garage rock scene to create an engaging, commercially-viable sound. The group are actually being honored all this week on Lightning 100; at least one of their songs will play every hour as the radio station celebrates Nashville’s up and coming artists. If you’d prefer to hear these stellar artists play live for free, be at Soulshine tonight at 7! [JS]

The ascent of Oakland rapper G-Eazy over the past few years has been a marvelous thing to watch. At just 25, the MC flirts with cloud rap aesthetics (slower, more ambient production), and draws lyrical inspiration and aesthetics from his internet-generation peer group, and his major label debut, These Things Happen, cracked the Billboard top 10 last summer. Joining him at Marathon are Kehlani, Kool John, and Jay Ant, for more purist hip hop meets modern electronic goodness. [PO]
