[Hump Day Diversion] Never Had A Friend Like Me

It’s nearly impossible not to be impacted by the sad and sudden news of the passing of one of the true greats, the incomparable¬†Robin Williams. Just scroll through your news feed in the last 48 hours and it’s full of sweet remembrances and wishes for a peaceful hereafter.

Perhaps surprisingly, many local folks in our own music community have also been sharing their stories of chance encounters with the man himself, who was apparently a frequent patron to the Musicians Corner series in Centennial Park. Everyone from Musicians Corner’s Executive Director, John Tumminello, to Alanna Royale’s Alanna Quinn-Broadus has attested to his unique warmth and personable charm. [editors note: Williams shot one of his last ever films, ‘Boulevard,’ here in Nashville, and spent time getting to know the city during production.]

Today, we honor the great joy that Mr. Williams brought to us all in some of his best, most musical moments.

“Don’t Worry, Be Happy” (Bobby McFerrin)
