It’s now been over a decade since Josh Rouse left Nashville to live in a small coastal town in Spain, but you can still hear plenty of the Music City’s influence on last year’s The Embers of Time, part of which was recorded in Music City. Tonight, Oct. 27 Rouse will be back in Nashville, at The Basement East, as part of the Communion music series, along with Good Buddy. Catch Ian Hunter w/ Bob Delavante | TONIGHT @ City Winery


It’s been over 40 years since Ian Hunter’s band, Mott the Hoople, originally broke up, but today Hunter is releasing solo material that’s as powerful and resonant as ever. In fact, many look at the work he’s crafted in the last decade as some of the best of his career. Tonight, Oct. 26, Hunter will be playing at City Winery with his backing band, The Rant Band, along with Bob Delevante. Don’t Miss La Sera w/ Springtime Carnivore I Sunday, Oct. 16 @ The High Watt


This Sunday, Oct. 16, former Vivian Girls member Katy Goodman will be at The High Watt with her current project, La Sera. Also playing is Springtime Carnivore, the newest pseudonym of Greta Morgan, who you may know from her time fronting The Hush Sound. Matthew Logan Vasquez Debuts New Video for “Personal” | Catch Him May 12 at Mercy Lounge


Matthew Logan Vasquez’s new “Personal” music video is just that. Vasquez wrote the song, which rocks just as hard as the rest of his new album, Solicitor Returns, when he was just 19 years old, and the video features his mother and her friend lip syncing and posing as his backing band. You may have seen Matthew with his band Delta Spirit before, but you can catch him playing solo in Nashville on May 12 at Mercy Lounge. Old 97’s and Heartless Bastards to Play Cannery Ballroom May 5


For the past 20 years and across ten full-lengths, Texas alt-country outfit Old 97’s have been putting on one of the best roots rock shows around, passing through Nashville on a near annual basis in the process. This spring, the beloved group are hitting the road with indie/garage/blues rock band Heartless Bastards, known for their hypnotic stage presence and for singer Erika Wennerstrom’s powerful vocals. A match made in musical heaven, these groups will be sharing a bill when they make a stop at Cannery Ballroom on May 5, as part of a newly-announced lengthy spring run (full dates below). Tickets for the Nashville date will be available here for $25 starting Friday Feb. 5.  BJ Barham of American Aquarium rounds out the bill, for one show that should definitely make your spring must-see list.
