Alanna Royale Tease “New music, New sound, New lineup” at March 7 Exit/In Show

We’ve written about breakout local act Alanna Royale more times than we can count at this point (since literally their first show), and for good reason- they’re one of the absolute best bands to emerge from Music City in recent years. After moving from Boston in the summer of 2012, frontwoman Alanna Quinn-Broadus and guitarist Jared Colby quickly and organically formed what would become a soulful horn-infused funk/r&b outfit, exploding onto the scene mere months later with no recorded music but one hell of a turbocharged live show. They quickly became the buzziest new act in Nashville, and went on to release an EP in early 2013, shortly before nabbing a spot at Bonnaroo and beginning to tour, then dropping their debut LP, Achilles, in 2014.

In the half decade since, Alanna have continued their rise as a critically-beloved, road-worn musical powerhouse, cementing their status as legends in the local scene, and upping the ambitions of their sound with fantastic 2018 sophomore LP, So Bad You Can Taste It. More recently, the group have continued to perform around town and on the road, trying out some different lineup configurations and remaining a favorite of festival settings. All the while they’ve been working on new music too, and ahead of their first local show of the year, March 7 at Exit/In, the group have been teasing “new music, a new sound, and a new lineup.” We’re always first to recommend catching any Alanna Royale show you can, but with intriguing changes on the horizon, it sounds like this particular performance, which takes place before they hit the road with Monophonics, should be a high priority.

Tickets are available here, and Whoa Dakota and Julia Cannon will open the show!
