Over the past few years, New York synth pop project Porches, helmed by eclectic artist Aaron Maine, has become a critically beloved fixture in the indie scene, especially since breaking out on a wider scale with soaring 2015 sophomore effort, Pool, which Maine followed up earlier this year with gloriously synthy, layered, and masterful new album The House. LA indie, folk punk infused duo Girlpool, similarly, have become critical darlings and amassed a cult following since first garnering attention for 2015 debut full-length Before the World Was Big, adding a drummer to flesh out their typically deconstructed sound for last year’s followup, Powerplant, channeling a broader range of influence, focus, and personal, vulnerable, and honest thematic focus.
Needless to say, both acts are incredible and unique fixtures of the indie scene, and have consistently produced some of our favorite records of recent years. We leap at the chance to see either performer individually, but with a co-headlining tour set to hit Nashville tonight, Nov. 2 at Mercy Lounge, this is without a doubt not just one of the best shows of the weekend, but also a must-see performance of the fall. After openers Palberta had to drop last mute, Lily K + Flash Fingers have stepped in to open, and incredibly, a few tickets still remain. Grab ’em here while they last, and check out recent tunes from both headliners below!
Porches, Girlpool, and Lily K + Flash Fingers will perform tonight, Nov. 2 at Mercy Lounge. The show is 18+, begins at 9 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.), and tickets are available to purchase for $25.
