Elohim-620

Enigmatic, Los Angeles based pop singer Elohim has generated plenty of allure by remaining incredibly secretive (until recently, it was next to impossible to even find a photo of her face), but the fact that her buzz has only grown over the past couple of years, leading up to her forthcoming debut full-length, is indebted more to the strength of her music, a stylish and contemporary flavor of electro-pop that we can’t get enough of. Apparently for the first time ever, the rising talent will play Nashville March 9 at Exit/In, joined by fellow LA based and equally mysterious artist Yoshi Flower, as well as local favorite James Droll. For those unfamiliar, it might be hard to sell you on artists we know little about, but if you like huge, hook-laden indie pop, we strongly encourage you to dig into this one. Tickets are available here, but we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan- if you need any extra convincing, read on for more about the show and enter for a chance to win below!

ELOHIM

When she emerged out of nowhere in 2015, LA electro-pop singer/producer Elohim took the route of absolute anonymity that a handful of internet-bred artists have experimented with in recent years, opting to keep secret her name, backstory, and even her face (we know she’s a lifelong aspiring musician with a humble upbringing, that her moniker is Hebrew for “God,” and not much else). As her buzz continues to grow, fueled by a stylish, synth-field eponymous 2016 release (dubbed an EP, despite its 10 tracks) and a continued series of singles that have dominated the blogosphere, we still haven’t learned much more about the enigmatic singer, other than what she looks like, revealed in press materials, a brand new video for “Fuck Your Money” (below), and, of course, live appearances, which extend to a series of high-profile festival spots this summer. Without the distraction of artistic image, Elohim pivots the focus and connection purely on her music, and with a debut LP slated to arrive this year, her knack for anthemic yet intimate  hooks and huge, epic production has it ranked among our most-anticipated. This is, apparently, her first show in Nashville, so don’t snooze on it!

YOSHI FLOWER

If you thought Elohim seemed mysterious, try finding anything anywhere about Yoshi Flower. We first encountered the artist last year at Bonnaroo- his apparent debut performance- and after some serious digging, pieced together that it was Josh Smith of Detroit indie pop duo Gosh Pith’s new solo outlet (which is either a renaming or replacement for his short-lived stint as simply “Joshua”). While we can’t find any music released, we’re told Yoshi Flower “blends together his obsessions of indie-rock, hip-hop, Electronic, liberation and revolution to create a tone pallet uniquely his own,” and moved to LA to chase love, then pursued songwriting and production until “an encounter with Elohim found him a home in Topanga Canyon where he began writing material for a new solo effort.” Enigmatic in his own right, this initial batch of shows outside of LA and ‘Roo are more than enough to get our interest piqued.

JAMES DROLL

Since diving headfirst into a solo career a couple of years ago, local transplant James Droll has become one of the most exciting fixtures in Nashville’s vibrant pop scene, met with acclaim and online praise for a series of stylish, electro-laced, soul and r&b infused singles. James’ modern indie pop sound and inherent cool makes him a natural fit to support this show, and whether you’ve been keeping a close eye on him like us, or you’re showing up late to the party, you’ll want to be punctual to see his opening set.
