A message from the band, as posted on their site:
when we were kids the only thing that got us through most days was music. its why we started fall out boy in the first place. this isn’t a reunion because we never broke up. we needed to plug back in and make some music that matters to us.
the future of fall out boy starts now.
save rock and roll…

Believers never die. Thanks for believing in our news and reading the site guys!
Here’s the text of our original post. We won’t update any of the info below (updates in red were added yesterday), but if any new information becomes available we’ll add it up top or in a separate post:
Last week, we brought word that seminal ’00s pop punk/pop rock band Fall Out Boy were set to reunite, as first reported by PropertyOfZack. News of the reunion quickly spread and was promptly dispelled by members of the band and by their manager. This is not the first time rumblings of a reunion have occurred since the band began a hiatus in late 2009. The news of this reunion was believed to be more than just a rumor, however, and was allegedly confirmed by multiple sources close to the band. The band’s denial was anticipated, and expected to continue until the official announcement was actually made.
We’re incredibly excited to report, and can exclusively confirm from sources close to the band, that Fall Out Boy are officially set to announce their comeback tomorrow, Monday, February 4. As noticed and reported several days ago, the band is set to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Wednesday, February 13.

Here’s what we know for sure:
- The announcement is coming tomorrow. Whether that means midnight, morning, or during the day is unknown. UPDATE: Chicago alternative radio station Q87.7 (known to be friendly to FOB) is making a secret major announcement Monday morning at 8AM (central). All of the members of Fall Out Boy are currently in Chicago. We’ll be listening in to provide you with live updates!
- The Kimmel thing is a done deal. Will they perform a new song? Possible, but don’t hold your breath.
- Fall Out Boy are set to play a secret show this Tuesday in New York City. We don’t know the time or location, hence the “secret.”
- The band got together around 2 months ago to write and rehearse in LA. Whether new material will result from this is unknown. It’s unclear if the band spent any of this time recording, although we wouldn’t be surprised to see a new track materialize within the next few weeks.
- There will definitely be a tour following the band’s reunion announcement. We’re unclear on the timeframe, scope, and whether or not it will officially be a Take This to Your Grave 10th Anniversary Tour. Smart money’s on a late spring start, extending through the summer.
Here’s what we think we know:
- Rumblings of secret shows have been floating around for awhile. New York’s a sure thing, but it’s unclear if any other secret shows are planned. We’d bet on Chicago and/or LA, if they’re happening at all.
- Take This to Your Grave 10 tour seems pretty likely, and we’ve heard talk about it, but it’s not confirmed just yet.
- Word on the street is that the band is set to play the Skate and Surf festival in New Jersey. Everyone connected to the festival has been adamantly denying this fact though, so if it’s not announced within the next week or so, it might not be happening after all. Despite the denials, it still seems like a strong possibility, however. UPDATE: PropertyOfZack has pointed out that Skate and Surf is set to begin announcing more artists on Monday. Coincidence?
- New music is expected to drop this year. Whether it’s a full record or not is unclear. We also don’t know the timeframe.
- This comeback will last for the foreseeable future. Also unconfirmed, but we believe the band plans to make a proper return, not just a one-off tour or temporary reunion.
- UPDATE: Some commenters on AbsolutePunk.net have also pointed out that the band fun. have been teasing a big announcement on Monday as well. Though this is quite possibly a coincidence, the similar appeal, label connection, and band’s relatively open schedule definitely makes the possibility of a joint tour seem not entirely out of the question.
We’ll update tomorrow once the band makes the formal announcement. As with any high-profile plans, details could change at the last minute. The wheels are definitely in motion though, and FOB fans can stop being cautiously optimistic and start being flat-out excited now!

Care to elaborate on the “What we know for sure,” section? The Scene As We Know It has also been documenting this evolving story.
We can’t reveal our sources, but we’ve confirmed all of our info from outlets we completely trust.
Anything else you guys care to reveal?
Not right now. We’ll be following the announcement tomorrow!
We’ll be tuning in as well.
if this is fucking true i’m crying forever tbh
I really need info on the secret show. I have my money on the knitting factory, but if anyone knows anything PLEASE SHARE.
funny because pete just shot it down its on alternative presses web site
The thing is… Pete’s denying a reunion because he also denied that the band ever broke up. Trust us, announcement’s happening tomorrow.
If you guys find out ANYTHING about the location of the show post it immediately please!! I’m in NJ and if I don’t go to this show I think I’ll die.
We don’t know anything concrete, but if you comb through the calendars of the more popular, smallish NYC venues you might notice one or two promising places with suspiciously empty Tuesday nights. 😉
ah thank you!! terminal 5 doesn’t having anything going on as far as I know, neither does the music hall of williamsburg, nor the paramount… any other ideas lol?
Knitting Factory is suspiciously dark too.
true!! thank you so much!!
Yes! I spent the whole night looking through the smaller venue’s calendars and I know that the last time they did a secret show, it was at the knitting factory. Thank you so much for the helpful information!
Interesting that Joe was with Pete in Chicago last night – I was so surprised when he showed up
Well, they are getting ready for a reunion after all!
To come to Chicago from NYC, tho – I wasn’t expecting that! If the party had been in NYC, I’d not have been surprised. Makes me wonder – if there IS an announcement tomorrow -if it will be made from here
Fake fake fake.
Can someone pleeeease let me know if there’s a Chicago secret show? I’d beat myself up if they did another show at a venue like Knights of Columbus like they used to. I’d appreciate you 5ever. Also, I’ll trade you my soul.
We’ll be sure to post if we hear anything!
I’m pretty sure you guys are the most wonderful, helpful people I’ve ever encountered on the internet. Thank you!!
Nope Fun has nothing to do with FOB. Good try though! 🙂
What makes you say that?
Tomorrow at eight am in those announcements there may or may not be a Chicago show being announced….don’t sleep on this.
Is there a webstream of that radiochannel, so it could be listined to in Germany???
Reblogged this on The Overused Signature.
