COIN2017-620

Though it seems like they spend the bulk of their time these days on the road, indie rockers COIN are an undeniable Nashville success story, ascending, with rapid speed, from a promising college buzz band to a national radio and touring fixture in what, to most people, probably feels overnight (and for those of us who’ve watched them along the way, feels like a well-deserved product of hard work and talent). Their local shows are few and far between nowadays, which has us extra excited for COIN’s latest hometown headliner, Nov. 2 at Cannery Ballroom with joan, out in support of their incredible new LP, How Will You Know If You Never Try. You can still grab tickets here while they last, but we’re thrilled to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan! Read on for more about the show and enter for a chance to win below.

COIN

Local indie/synth-pop outfit COIN came together a few years back while several members were attending Belmont, quickly finding buzz and a local following through their high-energy, polished live show and infectiously catchy and layered sound. With only a handful of tracks to their name, the group were already selling out local clubs less than a year into their existence, bagging them a deal with Columbia Records imprint StarTime International, through which they released their Jay Joyce-produced self-titled debut LP in 2015. While COIN made waves in the blogosphere, and helped the group find early success, especially thanks to buzzy cuts like “Run,” they really mined their time on the road with high-profile acts like The 1975, Neon Trees, and Betty Who, and honed their sound for the bigger, more confident, more cohesive, and all-around epic followup, this year’s How Will You Know If You Never Try, which brought the band closer to household name status without breakout single “Talk Too Much.” One of our favorite indie acts of the past few years, local or otherwise, COIN’s meteoric ascent has been a blast to behold and beyond well-deserved, and amidst festival appearances, headlining tours, and constantly mounting buzz, they’re currently having their biggest year yet. Don’t miss a chance to welcome the guys home!

JOAN

Fusing a love of ’80s pop and ’90s r&b, Arkansas indie pop duo joan have only a handful of tracks to their name, but with their nostalgic, shimmering synths and their 1975-esquse pop sensibilities, they seem destined, like COIN, to break out in a big way. They feel like a fitting opener, not only for their sonic similarities, but because they remind us of the buzz, excitement, and raw talent that propelled a young COIN not long ago. Show up early and see what they’re about!
