‘Tis the season to mix music with the holiday spirit, and in Music City there is no shortage of events promoting this attitude. Soulful local singer Jessie Baylin will headline an event tonight at The Basement East with proceeds going to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Baylin, who blew us away with her 2015 release Dark Place, and her band will be joined by the sweet singing Watson Twins and cabaret jazz outfit Nanty & The Nephews. The 21+ show gets started at 8 p.m., and admission will run you $12 in advance or $15 at the door.
The show will also serve as a celebration for the broad release of Baylin’s version of “Purple Snowflakes,” first made famous by Marvin Gaye in 1964. Head below to hear her psychedelic and dreamy take, and get out for some live music for a good cause tonight.
