On the heels of their debut at Bonnaroo, and still celebrating the buzz surrounding their fantastic new sophomore LP, Not to Disappear, London indie/folk group Daughter return to Nashville for the first time in several years tonight, Nov. 11 at Cannery Ballroom with buzzy up and coming indie rockers Vancouver Sleep Clinic. A band who seem only to get better with each release, Daughter’s earnest, personal, and moody style has made them a staple of the underground scene in recent years, and with two fantastic albums, a handful of EPs, placements, and world tours, the group’s rise feels well deserved. Tickets for tonight’ show are still available right here, so grab yours now and read on to find out more!

DAUGHTER

What began as a solo, acoustic musical vehicle for frontwoman Elena Tonra, London’s Daughter formally came together in 2010 with the addition of guitarist Igor Haefeli, who’d attended one of Elena’s performances, and drummer Remi Aguilella. After garnering some local buzz with their initial demos, the trio, adopting a folk-derived, electro-laced, textured, and moody flavor of rock, self-released their debut EP, His Young Heart, in 2011, quickly landing them a deal with Mumford & Sons affiliated Communion Records for followup The Wild Youth that same year. Eventually graduating to 4AD in Europe and Glassnote in the U.S., Daughter further boosted their presence with debut full-length If You Leave in 2013, leading to high-profile placements and worldwide tour opportunities (including stints with big names like The National), which included their last stop in Nashville, at Exit/In in ’13. The group have captured even more international acclaim with the sophomore effort, Not to Disappear, earlier this year,  and thanks to songs like “Youth,” “How,” and “No Care,” have earned a loyal following with their earnest, personal, and eclectic style. Though they performed at Bonnaroo this summer, Daughter’s Cannery show marks their first proper Music City outing in several years, and their biggest one to date. Don’t miss out!

VANCOUVER SLEEP CLINIC

With only a handful of songs to their name, and helmed by talented young songwriter Tim Bettinson, Brisbane, Australia’s Vancouver Sleep Clinic create dreamy, sweeping, epic, and atmospheric textures, landing in a much more electronic and cinematic realm than Daughter, while still sharing their flair for pop accessibility and electronic experimentation. With a haunting, earnest falsetto, Bettinson definitely draws comparisons to Bon Iver, but VCS are forging a sound all their own (and one that already nabbed them major label attention). Show up early to see an exciting act on the rise!

Daughter and Vancouver Sleep Clinic will perform tonight, Nov. 11 at the Cannery Ballroom. The show is 18+, begins at 9 p.m. (doors at 8 p.m.), and tickets are available to purchase for $25.
