Thrice-620

Though they technically reformed last year after a three year hiatus, it feels like beloved west coast post-hardcore group Thrice are only just now staging their proper reunion, complete with a comeback album and their first run of club dates in years. Tonight, Sept. 29 at Cannery Ballroom marks the band’s first Nashville show in eight years, and, along with likeminded rockers La Dispute and buzzy newcomers nothing, nowhere., we have a feeling it’ll be well worth the wait. Whether you want to get nostalgic or catch a band you never got to see the first time around, tickets are still available right here, so secure your spot and read on for more about the lineup!

THRICE

Currently in the midst of a reunion tour in support of their brand new comeback album, To Be Everywhere Is to Be Nowhere, post-hardcore trailblazers Thrice initially reformed last year, after a three-year hiatus, but opted mostly just to play festival dates, making this run of performances their first proper club tour in a number of years, and this their first Nashville stop in a whopping eight. Formed in 1998 in Irvine, California, Thrice were embraced early on for their experimental, heavy but melodic brand of post-hardcore, and considered one of the most influential acts of the early ’00s scene, finding breakout success from 2002 sophomore effort The Illusion of Safety and 2003 major label debut and cult favorite The Artist in the Ambulance. Over the years, the group have expanded to incorporate more art rock, alternative, and electronic influences, known for their unorthodox song structures and poetic lyrical style, and with their latest and ninth LP, the band’s first in five years, they find a balance between old and new, producing one of their most focused and fresh efforts in years. Known for their bombastic, energized live show, Thrice are a band we’ve sorely missed, and one you’ll surely want to catch in concert if you never got a chance to before, or revisit if you did!

LA DISPUTE

Formed over a decade ago in Grand Rapids, Michigan, La Dispute, like Thrice, are beloved in the modern post-hardcore scene, amassing something of a rabid fanbase thanks to three phenomenal full-lengths, which pull from influences of emo, spoken word, progressive, and experimental rock, resulting in one of the most unique and hard to pin down sounds in modern punk. Fiercely DIY-rooted and, like Thrice, charitably minded, La Dispute are an incredible, genre-bending live act, and a substantive and solid reminder that the punk scene is healthier right now than it’s ever been!

NOTHING,NOWHERE.

With little social media presence or press, nothing, nowhere. are something of an enigmatic new project, but one that’s managed to quickly turn a lot of heads, releasing both a debut LP and EP last year. Blending a nostalgic, layered, emo-rooted sound with electronic and hip hop elements, the group’s catchy sound lies somewhere between Brand New and twenty one pilots (weird, right?), leaving us thoroughly intrigued and eager to show up early and see what they’re like in person.

Thrice, La Dispute, and nothing, nowhere. will perform tonight, Sept. 29 at Cannery Ballroom. The show is 18+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m.), and tickets are available for $27.
