If you are in need of some post punk leaning rock tonight, 12th & Porter is where you want to be. Montréal based rockers Ought will join D.C. punks Priests and local femme powered rockers, Idle Bloom for a show worthy of going out on a Monday night. Tickets for the 18+ event are still available for $11, and the music kicks off around 8 p.m.
Head below for a bit more about each of the acts, and don’t miss out on this show!
OUGHT
We’ve had our eye out for an Ought date in Nashville since the release of their 2014 debut, More Than Any Other Day, and were quick to let you know about their Nashville premiere. The first album captured our attention with the post punk leaning sounds that give nod to influences like the Talking Heads. The single “Habit” has been stuck in our head like a bad habit for two years now, and they followed up with the equally awesomely noisey Sun Coming Down in late 2015. To date, all of the group’s releases have garnered acclaim from media outlets across the world, and they showed us why when we caught them at Shaky Knees last week. Head below to check out the heady title track from their most recent release, and don’t miss the opportunity to see the exciting rising rockers for yourself.
PRIESTS
D.C. based riot grrrl rockers Priests have been performing their punk dipped anthems since 2012, and really made strides with their 2014 release Bodies and Control and Money and Power. The single “Doctor” from that release landed on several best of the year lists, and has us excited to see what is next for these straight up, in your face rockers.
IDLE BLOOM
The phoenix to rise from the ashes of Fancytramp, Idle Bloom have been on our radar since day one, and are the perfect openers for this show. Their knack for crafting punk tinged, grungy, alternative indie rock are on perfect display in their debut EP Some Paranoia, and their live show is on par with some of the best in Nashville. Do not snooze on the openers tonight, because you’ll be missing out.
Ought, Priests, and Idle Bloom perform tonight, May 23 at 12th & Porter. The show is 18+, begins at 8 p.m. (doors at 7 p.m), and tickets are available for $11.
