Any of you that have followed this site or Nashville indie popsters ELEL for long know that we have been covering these guys since, literally, their very first show. We’ve watched their rise in the local scene, subsequent signing to taste maker label Mom + Pop, and recent appearance in Mike Birbiglia’s film Don’t Think Twice, which features their hit single “40 Watt.”
Needless to say, anticipation has been building around the local septet since their wild video for “Kiss Kiss,” and today, new single “Animal,” from their upcoming debut full-length, Geode, due out this summer. Frontman Ben Elkins describes the new single as a “loud song about a soft moment between two people,” and sonically it continues their mastery of dance worthy, worldly indie pop.
Have a listen to “Animal” below, and make sure you mark your calendar for May 21, when ELEL and bunch of other blog faves are playing the East Nashville Crawfish Bash.
