Almost a year to the date of his three-night stint at the Ryman Auditorium last year, alt-country wonder Sturgill Simpson is coming back to Nashville for two shows at the Mother Church on Oct. 28 and 29.
Today marks the long-awaited release of his third studio album A Sailor’s Guide to Earth, which was created as a musical love letter to his firstborn son. We were all lucky enough to get a teaser with the release of his lead single “Brace for Impact (Live a Little),” and his brilliant cover of Nirvana’s classic “In Bloom.” Overall, the record features a more reflective and experimental vibe than his breakthrough LP Metamodern Sounds in Country Music, but still supplies the expert storytelling and mind-blowing vocals that we’ve all come to know and love.
Tickets to Simpson’s residency at the Ryman last year sold out almost instantly, and this time will likely be no exception. You can snag yours for $30, $35 or $50 beginning Friday, April 22 at 10 AM here. Mark you calendars, then click below to see his dark but whimsical video for “In Bloom.”
