[NO COUNTRY PREMIERE] Chaos Emeralds Cover Ryan Adams’ “Come Pick Me Up”

As we recently told you, Chaos Emeralds are a brand new local project, combining the creative forces of  Daniel Ellsworth (of Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes) and Kyle Andrews, with a “R&B-drenched electronic pop [sound] for love + parties.” They made their interaction with a lush, hypnotic track and video for their debut single “Too Gone,” and have plans to play their first ever show tomorrow, Feb. 12 at Mercy Lounge with Tanlines and Wrestlers. Ahead of the show, the duo have unveiled yet another new song, this time a cover of Ryan Adams, and we have the pleasure of exclusively premiering it! “Ryan Adams is one of the great songwriters of our time, and, to be honest, one of the big reasons I started writing music.  I was inspired by his recent Taylor Swift cover album, where he took these heavily produced (but undeniably great) pop songs and turned them on their heads, making them completely his own. I started thinking about how great songs can transcend genres, and wanted to do that with ‘Come Pick Me Up.’ I wanted to take arguably the most well known Ryan Adams song and see if we could give it a different spin by turning it from a sparse, beautiful guitar and harmonica song into a cinematic electronic pop synth song. Even in a completely different light, the song still stands.”
