The weekend is almost upon us ladies and gentleman, but, as you know, here in Nashville the weekends always start early. Tonight, one of the best venues in town is bringing us a great bill as Heather Woods Broderick, Jesse Marchant, and Lylas perform at The Stone Fox. This bill won’t be full of the loud and fast punk rock we sometimes hear at The Stone Fox.  Tonight will be a welcome change as the musicians playing all focus on the Folk/Americana styles that we so enjoy here in Music City.  Tickets are $10, and the 18+ show starts at 8pm.

We have a full preview below where you can learn more about the artists. Check them out and head on over to our favorite West Side hangout for some great music.

HEATHER WOODS BRODERICK

Heather Woods Broderick is best known for being a member of Sharon Van Etten’s band. However, she is now touring in support of her sophomore solo effort entitled Glider. It is full of mystical, yet very soulful folk songs, and her voice evokes the likes of Beach House singer Victoria Legrand.  Broderick’s subject matter mostly deals with relationships and how the touring life can affect them. It is a struggle that many musicians deal with, and it will be very interesting and fun to see how it translates onto a stage. Check out the song “Wyoming” below.

JESSE MARCHANT

Also playing tonight is Canadian songwriter Jesse Marchant. Formerly known as JBM, the singer has shared the stage with many great bands such as Rogue Wave and St. Vincent, and his songs are full of emotion and ethereal textures. Marchant has a unique knack for painting a picture for his listener to become completely immersed in, and his clean voice explores the personal history it is rooted in. Check out one of his newest songs, “Every Eye Open,” below, and definitely don’t miss Marchant’s set tonight.

LYLAS

Ambient local supergroup Lylas, which is helmed by Kyle Hamlett, opens things up tonight.  You may remember us sharing the track “Sensual People” with you a few months ago.  This outfit features members of some blog faves like Stone Jack Jones, Lambchop, Coupler, Natural Child, & The Features, and, if that pedigree doesn’t speak for itself, just have a listen to the track below to see what you are in store for.

Heather Woods Broderick, Jesse Marchant, and Lylas will perform tonight at Stone Fox. The show is 18+, begins at 8 pm, and tickets are available for $10.
