First Khloe and Lamar, and now Joy and JP? What is the world coming to? Ok, full disclaimer here, I have no idea what is going on in the life of Khloe or Lamar, and I’m pretty sure that I am not good enough friends with The Civil Wars John Paul White to call him JP. Regardless, the biggest news in Nashville yesterday was the breakup of the partially Nashville folk duo The Civil Wars.
In one powerful Facebook post and numerous articles yesterday, The Civil Wars cited irreconcilable artist differences of ambition, and hoped to be able to right the ship sometime in the future. They also amazingly offered to help to reimburse non-refundable expenses for fans who had already booked travel to their already cancelled shows… I am in awe over that level of generosity. Of course, I guess I shouldn’t think they aren’t nice people, I mean I sort of invited them over back in 2011. Oddly never heard back on that one.
Jokes aside, this is a pretty big deal after a meteoric rise that brought them their first gold record for Barton Hallow. A big deal that we all celebrated at Grimey’s just a month and a half ago. It’s a sad day for their fans, unless they are going to get the money for that 5 star accommodation their wife booked reimbursed… and we here at No Country hope to hear that the discord mends in the coming months.
In memory, below is The Civil Wars covering The Smashing Pumpkins’ “Disarm”. Sit back, relax in your post election day state, and enjoy.
