Noir-inspired alt-country Americana singer Pony Boy is about to release her debut full-length Blue Gold, and has just put out the second single from the record. “Marquee Man” exhibits her fascination with old Hollywood, telling the story of a macho actor who thinks he should be billed above even the greats like Brando and Sinatra. The record as a whole sees Pony Boy, real name Marchelle Bradanini, looking back on her time spent living in southern California as she now splits her days between Nashville and England. Her music is rooted in country, but is also influenced by Americana, southern Gothic, western sounds, alternative, the blues, and punk.

After releasing the EP The Devil In Me last year, she teamed up with Deer Tick and Diamond Rugs producer Adam Landry for Blue Gold, which is set to come out Aug. 28. We already showed you the first video for the album, “Metal Dreams,” which is set in Los Angeles’ Chinatown and features comedian Chris Crofton. There will be a record release show at The Basement on Aug. 29, and if you can’t make that, she’ll be performing at the Americana Fest in September. Bradanini’s unique, low voice and weird mashup of influences make for a singer doing something different within the saturated Nashville alt-country scene, and she’s definitely an artist to keep your eye on.
