While an extraordinary amount of postponements and cancellations (due to illness, logistical concerns, behind the scenes drama and more) have plagued legendary English singer Morrissey over the past several years, leaving him with a bit of a dubious tour reputation, for the most part, his shows in Europe and the United States over the past year or so have gone off without a hitch. However, Moz being Moz, that streak was sure to break eventually, and, for better or for worse, Nashville is the first performance to face a change, albeit a minor one, on the singer’s current stateside run. Originally announced to take place July 2 at the Grand Ole Opry House, a venue Morrissey hasn’t played since 1992, the outing has just been moved a night later, July 3, and relocated to The Ryman, where the Pope of Mope headlined last year.

The official explanation given is a “scheduling conflict.” Whether that code for “more appropriately sized venue,” given that The Ryman has 2,000 less seats, and tickets are still readily available, is unclear. What we do know, though, is that our love for Morrissey is unwavering. His work with The Smiths marks some of the greatest musical output in history, his decades worth of solo material is incredible, and his live shows are stuff of legend, frustrating as he might sometimes be. Changes aside, you should see this show. His last was hands down one of our favorite performances of 2014.

Here’s the additional spiel from the venue:

“Fans who have tickets to the July 2 concert will receive an email notification from Ticketmaster in the coming days with their new seat location at the Ryman on July 3. They will have the option of receiving an electronic ticket they can print at home or exchanging their physical tickets for new ones at the Ryman or Opry House box offices. Fans who cannot attend the rescheduled date can obtain a refund at the point of purchase through July 10, 2015.”

It should be noted that we purchased physical tickets, but received electronic tickets from Ticketmaster with no explanation, so, if you’re in the same boat, keep an eye out. And, if you were dragging your feet on grabbing tickets, you should do that now while they last!
