Returning to Nashville May 2 at Marathon Music Works for their first Music City show in a decade, Swedish melodic/alt metal pioneers In Flames are out in support of their latest release, Siren Charms, joined by melodic metalcore act All That Remains and local heavy rockets Voodoo Prophet. While tickets are still available right here, we’re also giving you a chance to win a pair, so read on for a show preview and enter below!
IN FLAMES
Formed in 1990 by guitarist/drummer Jesper Strömblad (who, a few years back, departed the project), Sweden’s In Flames helped usher in an entire new subgenre in the ’90s: melodic death metal. Combining the harmonies and melodies, both musically and vocally, of prominent ’80s acts (the Iron Maiden kind, not the hair metal scene), with the brutal unclean vocals and heavy licks of death metal, the band quickly found an audience in Scandinavia, before breaking through on a global scale. An early revolving door of members would settle in the late ’90s, and a sonic shift to more melodic embrace and alternative sounds in the early ’00s helped propel the band to more mainstream success, especially in North America (their 2004 seventh album, Soundtrack to Your Escape, especially, marked a huge breakthrough). With a quarter-century of innovation, including eleven LPs (most recently last year’s Siren Charms), three EPs, and a DVD, countless global tours with both legendary and contemporary metal acts, festival appearances in nearly every continent, numerous Grammis Awards (Swedish Grammys), and millions of albums sold, In Flames have managed to stay not only relevant, but immensely popular in a time when real deal metal doesn’t get a ton of commercial attention. With decades of constant touring experience under their belts, you can bet the band’s live show is every bit as intense, eclectic, and polished as their impressive back catalogue.
ALL THAT REMAINS
Massachusetts act All That Remains, especially in their early days, are one of the countless bands influenced by the melodic death metal sound pioneered by In Flames. And, while they’ve shifted towards a more metalcore aesthetic for the bulk of their career, they’re a perfect compliment to this bill. The band juxtapose brutal instrumentation with catchy, layered guitar and vocal melody, and with their latest release, seventh album The Order of Things, which dropped earlier this year, prove to be as relevant as ever.
VOODOO PROPHET
Kicking things off, local hard rock/heavy metal act Voodoo Prophet help prove that Music City can produce brutal, heavy music with an unbeatable knack for melody as well. Be sure to show up early!

I’m in the military, stationed at fort Campbell. My soldier wanted to go to this concert but his paycheck was severely diminished due to complications from a recent deployment. I already have a ticket, could you throw one his way?
