No Country Presents’ weekly showcase, in partnership with Acme Feed & Seed, is still in full swing as we slide into spring. Tuesday March 31 will feature indie, Americana troubadour Matt Walberg & The Living Situation, southern indie rockers Heathen Sons, and, in from Memphis, Marcella Simien. Music starts around 7 p.m. and goes at least until 10 pm, so get there early to cash in on as much FREE music as possible. For more info on the bands, please read on, and we hope to see all of you there!

MATT WALBERG & THE LIVING SITUATION

Born into a family of entertainers in LA, Matt Walberg got hist start under the alias Banana Matt in the weirdo rock band H-Beam, whom you may remember from our East Nashville Underground coverage a couple of years ago. He’s now reaching back to the roots of his love for classic rock, blues, country and lyric-based songwriting, with his latest endeavor dubbed The Living Situation. The group’s debut self-titled EP is already available, and you can name your price here. Whether strumming his guitar alone, or with his peeps backing, Matt’s music should be in you’re life, and now you can see him put it down live for free, thanks to your pals at No Country.

HEATHEN SONS

An interesting blend of locally flavored influences including Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon and The Wild Feathers, Heathen Sons are a straight up American rock ’n’ roll band building buzz all over town. They’re part of the Starboard Music Group, and we’re pretty sure, based on a few recent teasers on their website, that an album or EP is the works.  We got to see them briefly at our holiday party at The Stone Fox.  While we didn’t hear originals that night, we met some of the nicest guys around, and are sure that they will win you over with their honest rock tunes.

MARCELLA SIMIEN

Living in Memphis, but hailing from Lafayette, LA, Marcella Simien is the daughter of Grammy Award winning artist Terrance Simien. She is also a multi-instrumentalist, playing piano/keyboard, accordion and frottoir (aka a washboard worn over ones shoulders). Playing a wide variety of styles, with many different types of musicians, we are very curious to see what she has in store for us as she continues to build a name for herself and her music.

Matt Walberg & The Living Situation, Heathen Sons, and Marcella Simien will perform Tuesday, March 31 at Acme Feed & Seed. The show is 21+, music begins at 7 p.m., and, per usual, it’s totally FREE. Downtown PARKING can sometimes be an issue. However, if you’re willing to walk a few blocks, street parking is typically easy to find on the numbered avenues south of Broadway, or along Korean Veterans Blvd. Metered spaces are often free after 6 p.m.
