Hesta Prynn – Bonnaroo Preview – No Country For New Nashville

After so much time talking about rock-abilifying guys at this years Bonnaroo, it’s time to focus on a certain starlet. Hesta Prynn (aka Julie Potash) has left the hip-hop project Northern State (think half Hesta and half all-chick Beastie Boys) to follow a solo career. This New Yorker is moving the likes of MIA right out of her way with her new solo electro pop with 90’s guitar sound. It’s the same kind of happy feeling that happened when you first heard Santogold or if you could imagine an electo pop version of Sleigh Bells.

After sharing stages with the likes of Tegan and Sara, Jay-Z, and Avi Buffalo, it’s not long before she will be filling giant venues to support her 2010 EP Can We Go Wrong. Stop by to catch her at one of her two spots at this year’s Bonnaroo festival. She’s at Silent Disco on Thursday (6/9) from 9:00 to 11:00 pm and at Cafe Where? on Friday (6/10) from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.
