Marc Broussard will be the first “official” show at the new City Winery venue this Sunday night, although it was one of the venues for last week’s Americana Music Festival. We were lucky enough to attend a few of those events and are looking forward to hitting many more at Nashville’s newest event space.
Marc is touring in support of his new album, A Life Worth Living, and will be joined by openers Mingo Fishtrap and Andy Suzuki.
MARC BROUSSARD
Marc Broussard is an artist with a unique gift of channeling the spirits of classic R&B, rock and soul into contemporary terms. He released his debut album, Momentary Setback, which he recorded and released independently in 2002 at age 20. Marc’s song “Home” was on steady radio rotation and his music has been featured in numerous TV shows and movies. A Life Worth Living, released July 29th on Vanguard Records, is Broussard’s sixth studio album and it is a collection of ballads and soul-gut rockers that tell personal stories of his life experiences surrounding home, family, relationships and community. This City Winery show is in support of the new album as part of a 17+ city tour before he joins the Southern Soul Assembly Tour – the praised artist-in-the-round performance series featuring Broussard, JJ Grey, Anders Osborne and Luther Dickinson.
MINGO FISHTRAP
Mingo Fishtrap is a Soul and funk band formed in the mid-1990s in Denton, Texas and currently based in Austin. They have released six albums and one concert video. The latest album, On Time, was released this year and was decribed by one review as “a big, old 12-song bellyful of Memphis soul cross-hatched with New Orleans jazz and funk”. And, as shown at a recent Music City Roots show, they are fun.
ANDY SUZUKI
Andy Suzuki is the lead singer of Andy Suzuki & The Method, a band from NYC, which also includes violinist Jason Gorelick and percussionist Kozza Babumba. The band formed in 2005 at Brown University and released its first EP, 300 Pianos, in 2009. In May 2013 the band released the full-length Born Out Of Mischief album.
Marc Broussard, Mingo Fishtrap, and Andy Suzuki will perform on Sunday, September 28 at the City Winery. The show is no age limt and begins at 7:30pm (doors at 6pm). Unfortunately, the show is SOLD OUT but there is a waiting list… click here.
