Jack White played an intimate short set for La Blogotheque’s famed Take Away Show series, performing the White Stripes song from White Blood Cells “Same Boy You’ve Always Known” and Lazaretto’s “Entitlement” at the empty Saint-Saturnin Chapel at the Château de Fontainebleau outside Paris. “Same Boy You’ve Always Known” is accompanied by band members Lillie Mae Rische on fiddle, Fats Kaplin on mandolin, and Dominic Davis on bass, giving it a country feel much different from the moody rock song it was with the Stripes. “Entitlement” is a duet with Rische performed on the roof of the Fontainebleau. La Blogotheque has been filming musicians in interesting, intimate settings (typically in locales around Paris) for years, getting musicians like Vampire Weekend to perform on the streets of Paris or Arcade Fire to play a song in the elevator of the Olympia theater. Jack White’s set is an addition to an already impressive lineup La Blogotheque has filmed giving unique performances.
The session was directed by Colin Solal Cardo, and you can click through to watch. It’s the closest anyone in Nashville is going to get to seeing the man in blue for awhile, as still no shows in his new hometown have been announced.
