Since late last month, our live events production wing, No Country Presents, has taken up residence at Lower Broadway’s hippest new restaurant, lounge, retail, and event space, Acme Feed & Seed. A shining beacon of cool amidst a sea of tourist-geared honky tonks, Acme’s aim to bring something different to Music City’s historic epicenter, as well as to provide a platform for talented local and national acts who, otherwise, might never have the opportunity to play on Broadway, is perfectly in line with our site’s mission. Every Tuesday night, we’ll be curating a free showcase from 8 to 11 p.m., where we’ll feature some of our favorite emerging local acts. We kicked things off with Kansas Bible Company, continued with a killer performance from Diamond Carter, brought you a double header with Bear in the Campsite and Jordan Hull, and, this week, delivered the folky/Americana sounds of Don Gallardo. For the next installment, on Tuesday, Aug. 26, we are, once again, bringing you two bands: indie/surf rock trio *repeat repeat and indie popsters Pang. Keep reading to find out all about him, and cancel any other plans you might have Tuesday night, because you’re coming to hang with us. Got it?

*REPEAT REPEAT

We’ve been singing *repeat repeat‘s praises for what feels like ages now, and the trio, who blend retro rock tendencies with surf licks and modern indie rock sensibilities, just keep impressing us with each passing release. Their debut LP, Bad Latitude, dropped earlier this year, and we’ve been spinning it nonstop ever since. Between critical accolades, national tours, and impressive supporting slots all over town, *repeat repeat  are clearly poised to be one of Nashville’s next breakout bands, and we couldn’t be more excited to have them at this week’s showcase.

PANG

We’ve been pretty much obsessed with Pang and their hip, synthy indie pop sound, since first stumbling upon them last summer. In the time since their debut, Follow Your Dreams, the group have graduated college, and most recently, dropped a followup EP, Woman, Girl. It’s packed with the catchiness and pop accessibility we’ve come to expect from the band, and channels a refreshingly unique depth and hypnotic quality that has us hitting repeat after every play. A perfect compliment to the breezy, energetic sounds of *repeat repeat, Pang help make this installment of our weekly showcase a must for rock fans.

*repeat repeat and Pang will perform Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Acme Feed & Seed. The show is 21+, music begins at 8 p.m., and, per usual, it’s totally FREE. Downtown PARKING can sometimes be an issue. However, if you’re willing to walk a few blocks, street parking is typically easy to find on the numbered avenues south of Broadway, or along Korean Veterans Blvd. Metered spaces are often free after 6 p.m.
