It’s nearly impossible not to be impacted by the sad and sudden news of the passing of one of the true greats, the incomparable Robin Williams. Just scroll through your news feed in the last 48 hours and it’s full of sweet remembrances and wishes for a peaceful hereafter.
Perhaps surprisingly, many local folks in our own music community have also been sharing their stories of chance encounters with the man himself, who was apparently a frequent patron to the Musicians Corner series in Centennial Park. Everyone from Musicians Corner’s Executive Director, John Tumminello, to Alanna Royale’s Alanna Quinn-Broadus has attested to his unique warmth and personable charm. [editors note: Williams shot one of his last ever films, ‘Boulevard,’ here in Nashville, and spent time getting to know the city during production.]
Today, we honor the great joy that Mr. Williams brought to us all in some of his best, most musical moments.
