No Country Guide To Tomato Arts Fest 2014

Tomato Art Fest is coming up this weekend (starting tonight, actually), and we decided to help you get acquainted with the musical aspects of this year’s event. Things get started tonight at The Crying Wolf with the King & Queen Costume Contest & Concert, and that rolls right into the “Block Party” tomorrow night in Five Points. Saturday features four stages of music that will bring you pretty anything that your big heart desires. Read on for more info about all the Tomato haps.

THURSDAY

TOMATO ROYALTY: KING & QUEEN COSTUME CONTEST & CONCERT | The Crying Wolf | 8pm | $20 to enter, Free To Watch | 21+

Per usual, the party gets started with the annual costume contest. The male and female (usually) winner with the most creative costumes will walk home with $200 each. There are judges who will anoint the winner (including our own Wes Davenport), but they will be using crowd reaction and response to pick, so bring your friends if you plan to enter this always fun event. Bonus: Heavy Sole are tapped to take us to the homestretch, and that’s the best way to keep this party going.

FRIDAY

TOMATO ART BLOCK PARTY | Beyond The Edge Parking Lot | 7pm | Free | All Ages

Tons of you make the pilgrimage down to Five Points every Friday night. I’ve seen you there. I’ve partied with you there. So, why the hell wouldn’t you start your weekend with the likes of three of our favorite acts in Nashville right now? In a lineup rife with diversity, the Friday night set will bring you explosive alternative hip hop from the likes of Chancellor Warhol, righteous rock tunes from Majestico, and the swingin’ good times of Buffalo Rodeo. With a top to bottom lineup chock full of fun up and coming local bands, this Tomato Art Fest lineup is going to have a little something for everyone. Soulful voices like Marquee Mayfield lead to the summer anthems of Kink Ador, and fast exploding synth fueled pop of ELEL finish off the night; but, we guarantee those of you lingering around Five Points during your day drinking expeditions will find at least one new band that you won’t shut up about.

Edley’s is serving up more than a tasty variety of southern eats for Tomato Art Fest this year, they’ve brought on board a plethora of musical treats that will make you give thought to taking leave from your well-primed bar stool at the usual Five Points haunts. Blog favorites like The Cunning, Churchyard, and Korby Lenker are as good of a reason as to walk over there as to regulate your beer buzz.

Well, lookie here! Our pals, Muddy Roots Music, who are constantly striving to bring good music to the people, have brought their little hoe down to Five Points for Tomato Art Fest.
