Bonnaroo Club Stage Band of the Day: Catfish and the Bottlemen

Just like last year and the year before, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with as many bands as we can from Bonnaroo‘s impressive 2014 lineup. In addition to main stage acts, we also want to be sure to give the Club Stage bands some love, so, for the next month or so, we’re adding a second daily spotlight. They might be the smallest artists on Bonnaroo’s bill, but the Club Stage bands some of the best and most exciting up and coming acts around. It’s not everyday in our Roo previews that we get to introduce you to a band so fresh and untapped that they have yet to drop their debut LP, but get ready to be way ahead of the curve, friends, because today we’re featuring white hot English four-piece underground rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen. In a fast and furious 18 months of touring, they played over a 100 shows, and signed with Communion Records in the spring of 2013. The group’s sound is something akin to The Kooks meets The Strokes, and frontman Van McCann is a Jack White-like wild man on guitar, who immediately commands your attention. Get a taste below, and look for their debut EP, Kathleen and the Other Three, slated for a June 3 release, with a full-length set to follow later this summer.

Catfish and the Bottlemen will be part of an epic Thursday night at the Sonic Stage. Communion Presents is a special block of performers hand picked by Communion (not only a label, but an international tastemaker promotional team) also including Tim Baker & Adam Hogan of Hey Rosetta, and Nashville very own Foreign Fields and The Weeks!
