Nashvillians are no stranger to Vintage Trouble. We caught them opening for The Who at Bridgestone, then again at Mercy Lounge last spring, and then we had another bout of Vintage Trouble at last fall’s block party over at Marathon Village. We also had contributors glow over their mid century “daptones” stylings at festivals last year like Austin City Limits and Beale Street Music Festival. But, let’s pretend for just a minute that you’ve been tuning out for the past 15 months. You’ve still probably heard Vintage Trouble in the most recent Honda Civic commercial with their song “Today Is Pretty Great.” Needless to say, these guys are blowing up.
Soul music is one that tends to leap across genres and doesn’t discriminate by age. Fans young and old will find familiarity in the powerful motown pipes of Ty Taylor, and the straightforward rock n’ roll laid down by stellar guitarist Nalle Colt will perk the ears of music fans from all walks of life. The Blue Note Records signed band is still ripping through packed houses touring in support of their 2012 release The Bomb Shelter Sessions. No announcements yet for a followup to that, but we would imagine that we will be getting some news for a sophomore release in the near future. In the meantime, get busy with the boys below, and practice your pelvis gyrations for their sure to be on fire set on the farm this summer.
