We ran down the full schedules of all of the events happening about town, and we even provided a little buyers guide for ya too. That doesn’t mean there aren’t a ton of other shows happening this weekend though! Go ahead and get your weekend planned with our latest edition of TWiN!

QUESTLOVE
@ Seen | 8pm | $25 | 21+
Questlove (or ?uestlove if you prefer) has come back to Music City by popular demand to spin, yes he DJs too, one of the livest partys of the year at Seen. If you’re even mildly into the dance/house/hip hop DJing scene, this an absolute must for you, because these types of acts aren’t as common in Nashville … not yet anyway. The man behind the turntables became famous for being the afro pick wielding drummer of legendary hip hop band The Roots, and has since become a brand onto himself. He’s taking a break from his gig with the band playing The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to spin this very exclusive set, and it WILL sell out, so get there early before you get left out. [JR]
THEE SILVER MOUNT ZION MEMORIAL ORCHESTRA w/ THE ASCENT OF EVEREST
@ Exit/In | 8pm | $14 | 18+
The five-member French Canadian outfit from Montreal, Thee Silver mount Zion memorial Orchestra (or just SMZ for short), has been described as post-rock or experimental rock, but, the more you delve into their extensive catalog (seven studio albums and an EP), the more you realize they defy genre, taking elements from countless other sound groups. You just have to listen below to see what we mean. They are currently touring in support of their latest offering, Fuck off Get Free We Pour Light on Everything. Combined with the sometimes local orchestral experimental rock 8-piece The Ascent of Averest, it will be a atypical night of performances to remember. [JR]
SPRING FEVER FEAT. KDSML, COACH, RATE, SPICE J
@ Mercy Lounge | 9pm | $7 | 18+
Our Mercy Lounge show for this Friday features a number of local DJs, including popular frequent collaborators Coach and Rate. However, the headliner for the evening is fellow Nashvillian KDSML (pronounced “Kids Meal”). KDSML has made a name for himself in the hip-hop/electronic scene by focusing on utilizing as organic and natural of an approach as possible. The results are nothing short of spectacular, and it’s quite easy to see why KDSML has been behind the DJ booth for over 15 years now. Finally, the opening act for the evening is fellow Music City denizen Spice J. So far, Spice is probably best known for his ambitious reaches into the pop hits of the 80’s, which he reworks into modern dance tracks. This one promises to be a fun one, and we hope to see you all there! [JS]
RON POPE w/ ALEX DEZEN
@ The High Watt | 9pm | $15 | 18+
A New Yorker by way of Marietta, GA, Ron Pope was mostly just a songwriter before a track he penned in 2005, “A Drop in the Ocean,” became an internet sensation, with 32 million views and counting. It encouraged him to pursue a solo career, and he now takes his heartfelt pop rock ballads on the road. Pope is currently touring in support of his ninth studio album, Calling off the Dogs. It’s a concept album about the peaks and valleys of one couple’s relationship, start to finish, and a perfect example of a record that is supposed to be listened to in order and digested as a whole (but feel free to just pilfer it for singles if you want). Be sure to listen to the song that started it all for Pope, and go see him live and in person at The High Watt. The frontman for alternative rockers The Damnwells (Alex Dezen) is now touring solo, and he’s opening, so it should be pretty chill and interesting night of righteous tunage! [JR]
LEAGUES w/ DUGAS, LITTLE TYBEE
@ The Basement | 7:30pm | $3 | 21+
Red Bull Sound Select is back at it with a bruiser of a bill for next to nothing from your wallet. Leagues are capable of putting tons of asses into venues the size of Marathon or Cannery, but you can be one of a 150 or so to cram into the Basement tonight for a far more intimate affair with the totally danceable, poppy, rockers. Local standouts, Dugas, and Little Tybee round out a perfect warmup to the madness of Record Store Day. [MH]

The welcome addition to the east side’s Riverside Village boasts a solid lineup of locals, and ends the night with a set of Turbo Fruits covering the Misfits. Unless I somehow am miracled an Ultra Ticket for Third Man, my ass will be parked at Fond Object soaking up the rays, and digging the vibe. You can check out the full schedule here, and dig on that new track from PUJOL below. [MH]
RECORD STORE DAY: SHY GUY, BULLY, BLANK RANGE, NUDITY, NIKKI LANE, MOUTH READER, GAY VIBES
@ The Groove | 10am | FREE | All Ages
By now you know it’s Record Store Day, and, at some point, you better get your ass to The Groove! Like all our favorite record shops on this holiest of holy days for music nerds, they have a bad ass line-up of mostly local talent and admission is 100% free! We’re already way hip to Bully, who opened for Superchunk earlier this week, and we were there when the fellas from Blank Range punched their ticket to perform at Bonnaroo this summer. NUDITY is always a blast of synth filled fun times. We’ve been hearing a lot about Shy Guy and word on the street is that they have been working on a new EP so look for new offerings from them at their performance. Get a full list of The Groove’s record store day events, bands and promotions here, and be sure to check out all the additional shenanigans at the other shops! [JR]
MUSIC CITY MAYHEM: COOPER AND THE JAM, WHAT UP ENGLISH, FAREWELL FLIGHT, PHIN, SAFE IN BLUE

Doors open at 4 p.m., music gets started at 5, and you must arrive by 6 to be eligible to vote. Oh, and it’s FREE! Not a bad Saturday, huh? [PO]
GOO GOO DOLLS
@ 3rd and Lindsley | 8:30pm | SOLD OUT | All Ages
If you were hoping to rekindle the feelings you had back in the day when songs like “Iris” and “Black Balloon” dropped, and they really helped you get over that one girl who broke your heart, you may be SOL because this show is SOLD OUT. If you already have a ticket, odds are you’re a big fan and you know there is much more to the Goo Goo Dolls than their hits from a soon to be bygone area. The aforementioned singles from Dizzy Up the Girl were released fifteen years ago now, and their latest offering, Magnetic (2013), shows some growth in sound, but isn’t much of a departure from what the group is known for. Still, they’ve managed to traverse the pitfalls of being former radio darlings to almost a cult fan status. Check out some of their new stuff below, and be sure to give them a shot their next go ‘round in Music City. [JR]
AJ AND THE JIGGAWATTS (ALBUM RELEASE PARTY) w/ KANSAS BIBLE COMPANY, ROOTS OF A REBELLION
@ Mercy Lounge | 9pm | $5 | 18+
AJ and The Jiggawatts debut self titled LP (G.E.D. Soul Records) has been available since Tuesday, but the real spectacle won’t happen until Saturday. We loved their James Brown-esque big band rock ’n’ soul sounds the first time we heard them and, once you see AJ perform in person, you will be a believer too. You’ve no doubt heard their blazing single “Throw a Fit” on Lightning 100 by now, but don’t miss the chance be part of history as they really get it cookin’ for their first official album release party. Recent Road To Bonnaroo winners Kansas Bible Company add there massive jam rock sounds and Roots of a Rebellion toss in some reggae spice to what amounts to probably the best night of the weekend for completely local music. Oh, and it only cost $5! [JR]
JUSTON STENS AND THE GET REAL GANG w/ RI¢HIE, SAMANTHA HARLOW
@ Exit/In | 8pm | $10 | 18+
Juston Stens may not be a household name, but he’s best known for his time spent touring with Dr, Dog. Seeking more creative freedom, Stens headed out on his own, and brings his laid back rock vibes to Nashville this Saturday night. If you’re looking for a cool post record store day outlet, this may be the answer for you. Local (and blog) fave RI¢HIE & and Samantha Harlow get things warmed up. [MH]
FEEDBACK REVIVAL, DE LA TORRE, SWAMPBIRD
@ The High Watt | 9pm | $8 | 18+
There might be no better way to end your Record Store Day extravaganza than with the relaxing, folky sounds of Feedback Revival. While most of the tunes of this local four piece spend the majority of their time in the softer side of acoustic rock, the band is not remotely afraid to turn things up a notch (hence the name, Feedback Revival). Opening for Feedback revival is fellow local act De La Torre, whose electronic yet organic and folky sound has been lighting up Music City recently. Finally, we’ve got Swampbird of Little Rock. Swampbird delights in the more atmospheric, ethereal side of music, and tend to take listeners on a thoughtful, introspective journey into the great beyond. In all, this show definitely stands out as one of the most interesting and talent filled shows you could attend this Record Store Day. [JS]
MUSIC CITY BURLESQUE’S GREATEST HITS
@ Marathon Music Works | 9pm | $20ADV/25DOS | 18+
There is never a dull moment at any performance from this cast of award-winning ladies, and this one is sure to be a night remember. Check out the video of last year’s Spring Show below. [KA]
SUNDAY
ECHOSMITH w/ KATE TUCKER AND THE SONS OF SWEDEN
@ 3rd & Lindsley | 8pm | $10 | All Ages
Indie pop newcomers Echosmith are not only one of the buzziest up and coming bands of today’s musical landscape; they also happen to be siblings! Catch the (mostly still teenaged) prodigies in their first-ever headlining show in Music City, performing infectious jams like “Cool Kids,” “Bright,” and plenty of other fantastic selections from their 2013 debut, Talking Dreams. Opening the night are the ever-amazing Kate Tucker and the Sons of Sweden, so, for $10, this should be a no-brainer way to finish out your weekend. [PO]
SCOTT REVEY, DOWN HOME, EXIT GHOST
@ The Basement | 8pm | Free | 21+
Scott Revey may just have one of the most pleasant voices around Music City these days. You can experience this for yourself this Sunday at The Basement for free. That’s right, free. Anyway, Revey’s excellent vocals and killer songwriting ability will be the headliner for the evening, with the Down Home Band opening. The Down Home Band features four members all playing acoustic music and singing tight harmonies. Also opening for the Revey is Exit Ghost, whom also occupies the acoustic singer-songwriter meets rock band niche. All in all, these three bands are perfectly suited to play a show together, especially a free show. Oh, did we mention there’ll be $2 drafts? [JS]
