[Morrissey Monday] Morrissey to Reissue ‘Vauxhall and I’ June 2 | Win Tix to See Him at The Ryman

In celebration of Morrissey‘s May 28 return to The Ryman (tickets here) and our accompanying ticket giveaway (get the full scoop), which ends in just ONE HOUR, we’ve brought you some great Moz-related posts in recent weeks. We got things started with a show preview, took a look at the new deluxe reissue and “definitive” remaster of Morrissey’s classic, Your Arsenal, explored Morrissey’s beginnings with The Smiths’ career-defining debut and its legacy 30 years later, and gave you the details on his upcoming tenth album. Today, we’re kicking off Morrissey Monday, where we’ll bring you some additional news or features about the Pope of Mope every week as long as tickets last! First up: more album news, and this one’s another reissue!

Hot on the heels of Your Arsenal‘s fantastic reissue, Morrissey is set to continue his re-release/remaster campaign with fourth album Vauxhall and I. Remastered in Los Angeles by Bill Inglot, Vauxhall will be available digitally as well as on CD and LP, and will include previously unreleased photographs. The reissue’s tracklisting has not yet been revealed, which leads us to believe it will be unaltered, unlike some of Moz’s other recent reissues. Vauxhall, first released in 1994, will arrive June 2 via Parlophone.

Though not as monumental as its predecessor, Vauxhall is, perhaps, the last great Morrissey album before his early ’00s renaissance. More mellow an introspective than Arsenal, Vauxhall showcases a dichotomy of guitar rock and and sweeping acoustic ballads. Of its many memorable tracks, produced by Steve Lillywhite and co-written by the at-the-time still new songwriting team of Boz Boorer and Alain Whyte, the album’s standout is “The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get.” Check it out below.
