If you were at last night’s Weekend show at The High Watt, you might have noticed Australian rockers Gold Fields running the house music in between bands. If you dug what the group were spinning (or you’re curious to know their taste), you can stream or download Gold Fields’ America Mix– a free mixtape to celebrate their return to the states. Tonight is when the real fun starts, however, as the electro-rockers are poised to take the stage, supported by Rush Midnight, at Mercy Lounge! After the jump, find out more about both bands and why you seriously don’t want to miss this show!
GOLD FIELDS
We’ve recommended Gold Fields a number of times in our Music on Television feature, and we’re beyond stoked that the Aussie rockers are finally making their return to Music City. Gold Fields’ new wave-inspired, ambient style is a unique breath of fresh air, and their debut album, Black Sun, has been one of our favorite (and hands down the most fun) releases of 2013. They’ve amassed a lot of hype this year, and for good reason! Slap on your dancing shoes, because the party is at Mercy Lounge tonight!
RUSH MIDNIGHT
Rush Midnight, the alias of former Twin Shadow bassist Russell Manning, is an eclectic, new-wavey, atmospheric romp. A relatively new project, Manning so far just has one release under his belt, last year’s +1 EP, but full-length debut is said to be finished and forthcoming. The Brooklynite is a perfect compliment to Gold Fields, and an up and comer to keep an eye on!
Gold Fields and Rush Midnight will perform TONIGHT at Mercy Lounge. The show is 18+, begins at at 9PM (doors at 8PM), and tickets are available for $10.
