According to our pals over at Third Man Records, The Dead Weather are back in the studio working on new music. The Nashville-based, Jack White-fronted group formed in 2009 to release their debut, Horehound, and followed that up with Sea of Cowards in 2010. The band have been relatively quiet over the past few years, White with his solo music, running Third Man, performing random acts of charity, and occasionally ending up in tabloids, and bandmates Alison Mosshart (The Kills), Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age), and Jack Lawrence (The Greenhorns, City and Colour) with their respective other projects. It was revealed by White last month that he was writing new music intended for both The Dead Weather and his other current band, The Raconteurs (which Lawrence is also a part of), since all members of both groups now reside in Nashville.
No formal album plans have yet been announced, nor has the band’s return to performing- their last show having taken place in 2010. However, you can take a look at a photo and message from Third Man about The Dead Weather’s current recording activity, after the jump!
