Let’s just assume for a minute that you aren’t down with free events in a downtown park, because we just told you earlier about Live On The Green happening tonight.  We have two more shows for the more air-conditioning minded music lovers out there.  One of our longtime favorites, Bobby Bare Jr, is performing at The 5 Spot tonight, but so is an incredible bill of James Wallace & The Naked Light, Clear Plastic Masks, Maritime Orchestra, and Banditos at The Basement.  While this is likely a toss up of whether or not you can afford a $5 cover charge, whether you live on the east side or west side, or whether you prefer smokey or not… there are decisions that must be made tonight.

We’ve given you previews of the bands performing, and you can pick your poison.  Honestly, for us, it’s a toss up that depends on the aforementioned decision points.  Click through the jump to help with your decision…

BOBBY BARE JR.
@ The 5 Spot | 9PM | 21+

The son of legendary songwriter Bobby Bare Sr. is no slouch. I mean, dad’s don’t take on the moniker of Sr. unless their son is a truly notorious songsman in his own right. We’ve seen Bobby Jr. a number of times, and promise this will be a packed show at The 5 Spot tonight. The 5 Spots calendar rivals our own for jankiest in Nashville, but you can rest assured that you are going to have some pretty solid support for this one starting around 9pm. Check out his homage to our homeland below.

Alright, alright… trust me, not all of Bobby’s stuff that upbeat and cute. Some of it is downright frighteningly remindful of some poor decisions of many of our youths.

JAMES WALLACE & THE NAKED LIGHT w/ MARITIME ORCHESTRA, CLEAR PLASTIC MASKS, BANDITOS
@ The 5 Spot | 9PM | $5 | 21+

If twang-twinged songwriting isn’t your cup of tea, your other air-conditioned recommendation is on 8th Avenue South where some of our local favorites James Wallace & The Naked Light and Clear Plastic Masks are playing, but that’s not all this bill has in store. You also get to check out guys we haven’t told a lot about like Knoxville party-rockers Maritime Orchestra and Birmingham americana rockers Banditos. You can check out the 2012 released EPs of both below.  Things get started around 9pm, and tickets will cost ya $5.
