As you’ve provably heard, the royal couple of hip hop, Jay-Z and Beyonce, recently took a Cuban vacation. The trip, which was officially sanctioned by the U.S. treasury department, has stirred up some minor controversy and requests for inquiry from Florida politicians over the past week. U.S. tourism to Cuba is officially illegal, but the couple was granted a license to travel for educational exchange. They fulfilled this commitment, so they’re in no actual danger of legal repercussions and are simply being used as topic of political discourse.

Today, Jay-Z fired back at the “controversy” by dropping a fresh new Timbland and Swizz Beatz produced track called “Open Letter.” In the track, Hov boasts that he could “turn Havana to Atlanta” and claims “Politicians never did shit for me / Except lie to me, distort history,” before proclaiming “Want to give me jail time and a fine? / Fine, let me commit a real crime.”

Even Jay’s pal Barack comes up in the track. “Obama said ‘chill, you’re going to get me impeached’ / You don’t need this shit anyway, chill with me on the beach.” That’s that Jay-Z confidence we know and love. Check out the whole track after the break.

We’re expecting a new album from Jay sometime in the near future, but no plans have been officially announced. Additionally, the rapper will embark on a short arena tour with his recent collaborator Justin Timberlake this summer, but the duo is pretty much skipping over the south. We’re hoping Jay will show Nashville some love again by 2014. You can, however, catch Beyonce at Bridgestone Arena this summer. Head here for more info on her July 13 performance.
