Zac Farro (Paramore, Halfnoise) Headlines The Blue Room in Celebration of New Solo LP ‘Operator’ Tonight, July 19

Best known as the drummer for acclaimed, long-running alt rock trio Paramore, as well as his for fronting his fantastic side project Halfnoise (which began back in 2010, during his stint away from Paramore, and has remained prolific even since rejoining in 2017), Nashville’s Zac Farro has, for the first time, just released a full-length album under his own name, Operator, though his own Congrats Records label. While Halfnoise has, essentially, been a solo moniker- Zac is the only constant member, primary songwriter and instrumentalist, and is often the only member featured in promotional material- it has often felt like a band as well, with some of Farro’s current and former bandmates even going on to join Paramore’s live band. And though Farro did previously drop an EP, Zafari, under his own name in 2020, it was more of an experiment in reggae than a typical sonic outing in his solo oeuvre. Still, switching from Halfnoise to simply Zac Farro feels like the beginning of an important new chapter from one of our longtime favorite local artists, and Operator still feels distinctly Zac, with its groovy, shimmering pop; funky, rhythmic sensibilities; mellow and ethereal yacht rock vibes; and retro psychedelia. And though it wouldn’t be out of place with his Halfnoise catalogue, the LP does feel a bit intangibly different, and perhaps the most confidently, thoughtfully, and personally representative of Farro’s 15 year journey as a solo artist.

In celebration of Operator, Zac is set to headline The Blue Room at Third Man Records tonight, July 19, a space that is sure to bring the perfect vibes for his groovy, fantastically fun live show. We’ve seen Farro as Halfnoise many, many times over the years, and expect this to be a similar experience (which is to say, one you don’t want to miss)- with good vibes, great backing players, and a whole lot of heart and soul.
