I bet you have no idea what we are going to talk about, do ya?  You looked at this thinking, I wonder what the fine folks at No Country are up to on Saturday, I just know that’s what you were thinking.  So, thanks for stopping in to ask… Saturday is Nashville’s Official SXSW Send Off Show at Mercy Lounge and High Watt.  We’ve done enough wordsmithing, and it’s time to prepare to party at this totally free event.

Click on any of the photos of the artists below for our interviews and write ups of the past two weeks.  If you need more event info, check RIGHT HERE!  Remember this is a totally free event.  If you aren’t twenty one, we’ll hopefully have more events that you can attend when you’re old enough to drink.  Doors are at 8pm, and the show gets rockin’ around 9pm.  Hope to see you, and all of your friends there.  Actually, you know what, if you come, I (read: Third Shift Amber Lager) will buy your first beer.

Other shows that you might be interested in this weekend, and included in your regularly scheduled TWiN programming… right after the break:

Friday

If you’re not spending your Friday night resting up for our SXSW, Philip thinks you should head over to the Zombieshop for Two Bit Charlie and Walking Man! Nashville certainly has seen no shortage of blues rock duos lately, but Two Bit Charlie put a nice powerful, visceral spin on it. Also hailing from Nashville, Walking Man are grounded in blues and folk, but funnel it into a more experimental indie/art rock sound. Details on the show are scant, but it looks like doors are at 8PM, and it should be but a few bucks to get in!

Saturday

If you do not come to the SXSW show on Saturday, Jessika will never forgive you. She MIGHT forgive you if you come late, but only if it’s because you stopped in at the Forget Cassettes (another awesome Beth Cameron initiative) with Bows & Arrows, Cortney Tidwell, & Couplerat show at Exit/In before you made your way to Cannery Row (no promises, though). Tickets for that one are $10 and available here. Show starts at 8 so go early but leave in time to make it to the SXSW show before you head home — it’s free after all!

Forget Cassettes gettin’ arty…

Sunday

If you are a true weekend warrior, and you need some entertainment to finish your days of rest off right, then Matt would have to suggest hitting up The End for Efterklang, Timbre, & Nightlands.  I’m most familiar with the band Nightlands, which is the solo project of Dave Hartley (the bassist for The War On Drugs and Sharon Van Etten).  Nightland’s music is a very full, rich, and vibrant bit of art rock, and you can definitely hear that in the track “I Fell In Love With A Feeling” below.  Nightlands opens things up for Nashville’s ethereal harp-pop act Timbre, and Danish art-rockers Efterklang.  Efterklang’s video for their track “Modern Drift” is also below.  Things get going for this one around 9pm.

If you’re looking for some bayou blues rock, Philip suggests catching The Delta Saints at 3rd and Lindsley. The Nashville group just released their new album, Death Letter Jubilee, in January, and it’s the strongest, most focused release from the band yet! With diverse instrumentation and over the top energy, The Delta Saints’ live show is one of the most fun around. Kansas folk rockers Quiet Corral are opening the show, things kick off at 8PM (6PM doors), and you can grab a ticket right here.
