Bonnaroo Artist | Tinashe
Bonnaroo History | Newbie
Stage & Time | Sunday | That Tent | 5:00-6:00pm
Like we’ve been doing for many years now, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with many of our favorite acts from Bonnaroo‘s 2022 lineup. And, for the first time in three years, we finally feel confident that there definitely will be a Bonnaroo this year, after a postponement then cancelation in 2020 due to Covid, and an unfortunate rainout of last year’s would-be September event. Returned to its traditional timeframe of June 16-19, this marks Bonnaroo’s 21st summer and 19th installment, and features a largely new lineup for the festival’s much-anticipated return!
As we dig through the entire schedule, we’ll highlight a spread of performers spanning across genres and stages, big and small, new and old, to bring you some of the most interesting, lesser-known, and most highly-recommended among this year’s crop of artists. And as our time at ‘Roo approaches, we’ll also be bringing you some special features and full list-style daily lineup guides, to help you plan your weekend ahead of the fest. While these previews won’t span every artist, and might omit some more obvious must-see acts, we hope they’ll serve as a way to help you navigate Bonnaroo’s gargantuan lineup, and to make the most of your busy weekend on the farm!

LEARN
Tinashe Kachingwe, known mononymously as Tinashe, hails originally from Lexington, KY, but relocated to Los Angeles as a child to pursue a career in acting, where she landed film and television roles before joining pop group The Sunners, an outfit that achieved moderate success and even toured with Justin Bieber before splitting in 2011, all while Tinashe was still in her teens. After positive buzz for some early solo music, the singer inked a deal with RCA Records ahead of her debut album, Aquarius, in 2014, a record that catapulted her to critical acclaim and saw single “2 On” featuring ScHoolboy Q, in particular, become an absolutely massive hit. In the years since, across numerous mixtapes, two more major label releases, and two more recent independent LPs, she’s collaborated with the likes of Future, Offset, Britney Spears, Chance the Rapper, and Iggy Azalea, toured with Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Maroon 5, and even returned to acting with Fox’s Emmy-winning televised Rent: Live. With a timeless pop and r&b foundation funneled through a cool and contemporary alt-r&b sound, Tinashe is one of the most interesting and gifted singers making music in the r&b space today, but, despite all of her success, still feels kind of underrated. Her latest album and second since going independent, 333, was one of last year’s most substantive, soulful, and creative works in the alt-r&b space, and Tinashe is easily one of the coolest performers on this year’s Bonnaroo lineup. Don’t miss her!
