Born David Brown and hailing from New Orleans, genre-bending R&B breakout Lucky Daye initially found a love and affinity for music through church, eventually branching out to secular artists and finding a love for classic R&B, soul, and funk. Honing his craft in Atlanta, and now based in Los Angeles, Daye’s first taste of stardom came in 2005, when he made the top 20 on season 4 of American Idol at 19 years old. Over the following decade, he’d establish himself under the Lucky Daye moniker as an in-demand songwriter, collaborator, and backing vocalist, working with artists like Ariana Grande, Ne-Yo, Boyz II Men, and Keke Palmer, all before inking a major label record deal and making his debut as a soulful, unique R&B solo artist with 2018 EP I and swift followup II early the next year. Daye’s first LP, Painted, also arrived in 2019, but it was Grammy-winning 2021 EP Table for Two which first earned the multifaceted singer broader acclaim and more mainstream attention. That streak would continue with lauded, genre-bending, breakout 2022 sophomore full-length Candydrip, which brought further award nominations, bigger headlining tour dates, and even more crossover success. Continuing to operate as a co-writer since kicking off his solo career, Daye has, in recent years, worked with increasingly larger names like Zayne, Mary J. Blige, and the one and only Beyoncé, earning him a reputation as one of the most exciting new figures in R&B.

Late last month, Lucky Daye returned with a highly-anticipated third full-length, Algorithm, his most confessional and adventurous record to date, and is currently in the midst of a lengthy North American tour in support, returning him to Nashville for the first time in two years to headline The Ryman Auditorium on July 23 with fellow buzzy R&B artist Fana Hues (who first caught our attention after appearing on Tyler, the Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost a few years ago, and recently released a new album as well, Moth). Tickets are available now, and you can get them right here, but we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan! Preview both performers and enter below.
