Bonnaroo Artist | The Foxies
Bonnaroo History | 2018
Stage & Time | Thursday | Who Stage | 9:00-9:45pm

Like we’ve been doing for many years now, we’re making it our mission to help you get acquainted with many of our favorite acts from Bonnaroo‘s 2024 lineup. After roaring back to life in 2022, after two years off due to Covid and weather, and feeling fully like its old self again with a great fest last summer, this year marks Bonnaroo’s 21st installment (and 23rd anniversary), boasting not only another great and varied lineup, but also a continuation of some of the big changes and improvements rolled out over the last couple of years, with more flexibility in ticketing and camping, a reimagined “Outeroo” campground area, new activations, and further new ways to Roo. Back once again in its usual June 13-16 timeframe, we’re counting down the days until another great weekend on the farm.

As we dig through the entire schedule, we’ll highlight a spread of performers spanning across genres and stages, big and small, new and old, to bring you some of the most interesting, lesser-known, and most highly-recommended among this year’s crop of artists. And as our time at ‘Roo approaches, we’ll also be bringing you some special features and full list-style daily lineup guides, to help you plan your weekend ahead of the fest. While these previews won’t span every artist, and might omit some more obvious must-see acts, we hope they’ll serve as a way to help you navigate Bonnaroo’s gargantuan lineup, and to make the most of your busy weekend at the fest!

Grab your tickets right here if you haven’t already, and read on for our Bonnaroo Artist Spotlight!

LEARN

Since landing on our radar with their blissfully poppy, energetic debut EP Oblivion in 2016, locals The Foxies have steadily become one of the best bands in the Nashville pop rock scene. Helmed by dynamic and magnetic singer Julia Lauren Bullock, who grew up playing music in North Carolina, and honed her artistry in New York and Arizona, before landing in Nashville, the project really came together when Bullock linked up guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Jake Ohlbaum, an aspiring producer and songwriter originally from Philly, who instantly clicked with Julia and recognized her talent as a frontwoman. Later rounded out by drummer Rob Bodley, The Foxies instantly made a splash with their first EP and early singles, channeling an incredibly catchy, glam inspired, retro referencing, unabashed pop sound, rooted with a modern indie pop flair, electronic flourish, and pop punk spirit. The band first played Bonnaroo back in 2018, after winning the Road to Bonnaroo competition, and further honed their sound the following year with EP Battery, reaching even poppier heights and more viral attention with 2020’s Growing Up Is Dead EP, boasting viral singles like “Anti-Socialite” and “Deep Sea Diver.” Though the pandemic halted live plans, it didn’t slow down the trio’s creative output, finding even more buzz and attention on TikTok in 2021 for tracks like “Timothée Chalamet” and “Summer Never Dies,” and touring with the legendary Billy Idol that same year. 2022 would see the release of their very first full-length, Who Are You Now, Who Were You Then?, written and recorded between Nashville and LA, and co-produced by the DIY-minded group, who began work on it amidst the Covid lockdown. The Foxies’ best, most representative record to date, the LP boasts all the pop hooks and rock and roll bite we’ve come to expect from the band, coupled with some deeply personal, resonant, and mature songwriting and slick production. Ever prolific, the band haven’t slowed down since, with three great new singles- “Call Me Later,” “Talk to Me That Way,” and the recent “Natural Disaster”- all released this year, ahead of their return to Bonnaroo. In the six years since their last show on the farm, The Foxies have made some of the best music in the local alt pop and pop punk scene, and their live show remains an incredibly fan, electrifying affair. Don’t miss their Who Stage set!
