[PREMIERE] Notelle Gets into the Halloween Spirit with Spooky Lyric Video for “Ex-Lover”

Self-described as “dark industrial nightmare pop,” artist, producer, and songwriter Notelle has made a name for herself in recent years both as a solo artist and an in-demand collaborator with producers and DJs across the globe. We’ve sung her praises time and time again, and can’t get enough of the buzzy local singer’s dark, electro-infused, brooding, edgy, and extremely catchy musical sensibilities, and vulnerable and sometimes macabre thematic focus. Her singles have been dominating our playlist for years now, and Notelle’s long-awaited debut EP, Nyctophiliac, which arrived back in then spring, instantly became one of our favorite projects of 2022!

A few months back, Notelle teamed up with director Talia Stewart to kick off a series of visual collaborations- ostensibly lyric videos with a much higher and more creative production value than most- centered around the EP and dubbed “Talia Stewart Presents Notelle’s Nyctophiliac,” which began with a spot for opener and lead single “Sufjan Stevens.” Today, and just in time for Halloween, we’re thrilled to premiere the second video in the series, an appropriately spooky and immersive lyric video for Nyctophiliac‘s second track, “Ex-Lover”!

A rare example of Notelle ceding her visual direction to another creative, “Ex-Lover” is once again a dazzling and creative elevation of your typical lyric video, and features the singer clad in a skeleton costume, wielding a pick axe in the dark woods as the song’s moody and self-reflective lyrics appear on screen.

On the collaboration, Notelle tells us:

“Talia and I have been trying to find a way to creatively work together for awhile, so when it came time to do proper lyric videos for my EP, I went immediately to her. As far as creative direction goes, Talia is unmatched. I rarely trust others to take the reigns for me when it comes to my branding – visual or otherwise – but I knew this EP would be in good hands with her! When you find collaborators that you trust, it’s important to foster those relationships and work together when you find the opportunity to. This is the first time we’ve had a chance to create side by side, but I’m hoping it won’t be the last.”
