Formed 15 years ago in Indianapolis, progressive metal outfit The Contortionist have, across four full-lengths and four EPs, earned a solid reputation for being one of the best, most consistent acts in the modern metal scene. They’ve toured with the likes of Hatebreed, All Shall Perish, Protest the Hero, Between the Buried and Me, Nothing More, Dance Gavin Dance, and more, and throughout the years and across a few lineup changes, have evolved from a more extreme sound to a more ambient one. While squarely in line with the modern metal scene, they incorporate influences of classic prog rock, hard rock, ambient music and broader metal, making their sound particularly eclectic.
After a pandemic hiatus (and five years since their last full-length, three since their last EP), The Contortionist are back on the road, for a special tour where they’re performing two of their most-beloved records- 2010 debut LP Exoplanet and 2014 third full-length Language– in full for the first time, a treat for longtime fans as the band ramp up their activities once more. The run brings the metal outfit back to Nashville for a headlining show at Eastside Bowl on Oct. 13, with support from Pennsylvania prog and death metal outfit Rivers of Nihil, who are also joining in on the album play-through fun, performing last year’s The Work in full.
While you can still get tickets right here, we’re also excited to announce that we’re giving away a pair of tickets to a one lucky winner. Scroll for a preview of the lineup, and enter for a chance to win below!
