Though individual members of beloved New York hip hop trailblazers Wu-Tang Clan have made regular appearances in Nashville in recent years, performances from the whole sprawling unit have been much more rare. Memorably, the group appeared at 2013’s star-studded Bonnaroo, but haven’t made it to Music City proper in much longer, potentially dating back to a late ’90s tour with Rage Against the Machine. But a long overdue return is only one of the factors that makes their June 9 Nashville stop an especially exciting one: additionally, it’s in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their seminal 1993 debut and breakthrough LP Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), which should be a particularly cool treat for fans, and, even more unexpectedly, the show is set to go down at The Ryman Auditorium, a local and historic institution which has rarely played host to hip hop concerts. Yep, that’s right, Wu-Tang at the Mother Church; it doesn’t get much cooler than that.
Tickets go on sale Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m. CST right here, and they won’t last.
