One of the most exciting singer-songwriters to come out of Nashville in recent memory, Savannah Conley is an artist we’ve loved from the moment we first discovered her, and one who, with her raw talent and big label and producer associations that’ve come about quickly and organically, seems poised to be a the next big breakout local success story. Between festival dates and high-profile supporting tour slots, Conley is set to come home for an impressive headliner Nov. 8 at The Basement East, along with buzzy local rockers The Prescriptions and up and coming singer Briston Maroney. This is a stacked bill and a great chance to see Savannah before she’s playing even bigger rooms, so we’d suggest you grab your tickets here asap! However, we’re excited to announce that we’re also giving away a pair of tickets to one lucky fan, so if you’d rather leave it up to chance, read on for more about the show and enter for a chance to win below.

SAVANNAH CONLEY

We’ve been obsessing over rising local singer-songwriter Savannah Conley since her stunning debut EP, 18th and Portland, last fall. The genuine Nashville native, who grew up with musical parents, has had a crazy year since, landing a deal with Dave Cobb’s Low Country Sound on the spot after being asked to audition for the famed producer in person, who subsequently helmed her first major label EP, Twenty-Twenty, earlier this year. Though she’s coming up in conversation in the country world, to simply peg Conley a country artist would be to undersell the nuance and universality of her sound, which certainly owes plenty to classic rock, country, singer-songwriter, pop, and folk music, but is also funneled through the earnest sensibility of a gifted young singer dialed into the contemporary musical landscape and indie rock scene. One of the single most promising talents to rise from the local scene in recent memory (though hardly new, as the 21 year old has been making music most of her life), Savannah feels destined to become a big star, and this is a great chance to see her at one of her biggest hometown headliners yet, before Conley inevitably graduates to bigger rooms like The Ryman before you know it.

THE PRESCRIPTIONS

Originally from Birmingham, AL, Hays Ragsdale of The Prescriptions always thought the songs that came to him so easily growing up were just a an idle hobby best kept to himself. Despite these inclinations, he caught enough of a musical itch to move to Nashville in 2014, and, after some positive feedback from new friends, decided to form a band. Ragsdale turned to a longtime hometown friend and fellow Music City transplant Parker McAnnally to play bass, eventually recruiting John Wood and Chris Luebeck to round out their lineup. An impressive EP, Either Side, soon followed, and helped the band earn buzz around town as they became an increasingly active live fixture (and veterans of our Acme showcase series). The Prescrptions’ ambitious, sometimes stream of consciousness lyrics bring to mind Southern rock and ’70s folk storytellers of yesteryear, backed by expressive and eclectic arrangements, which touch on influences ranging from The Strokes to Wilco. Prepping to release their debut full-length, Hollywood Gold, early next year, we expect, like Conley, you’ll be seeing big things from The Prescriptions very soon.

BRISTON MARONEY

Knoxville raised, Nashville based singer-songwriter Briton Maroney first found a taste of fame as a contestant on American Idol several years back while still in his teens, but these days, the young singer has branched out far beyond his reality TV days to become an eclectic, well-rounded, and exciting artist to watch. Taking time to refine his sound and style, Maroney found critical praise and a growing new fanbase with his excellent 2017 EP Big Shot, and with a handful of singles since, continues to flex his interesting range as a songwriter and instrumentalist. New single “Under My Skin,” particularly, channels a longtime love of blues rock with a folk flair, landing in the vein of contemporary greats like Jack White and Dawes. Those are some lofty comparisons, but so far, Maroney hasn’t failed to impress, and this up and comer is a songwriter you should be keeping a close eye on. Show up early and see what he’s all about!
