Summer is rolling by, and bringing with it tons of great music. We’re back from a weekend jaunt to Louisville for Forecastle Fest, and focusing squarely on all of the best happenings this weekend in Music City. Whether the reunited original Smashing Pumpkins at Bridgestone Arena tickle your fancy, or a more intimate set from emo legends The Get Up Kids at Mercy Lounge are more your speed, Friday night is looking pretty stellar, with additional shows from local up and comer Hank Compton at The End, Myrtle Beach pop rockers Small Talks at Cafe Coco, the first of two nights of Punch Brothers at The Ryman, and more. Saturday is even more packed and eclectic; among our top picks are a free set from Sad Baxter at Grimey’s, the return of Emo Night Brooklyn with a DJ set from Yellowcard’s Ryan Key, up and coming Arkansas garage rockers Witchsister at The Cobra, the always excellent Tennessee Teens Rock Camp Showcase, buzz alt rockers The Stolen, and more. And ending the weekend on a high note, Sunday boasts a sweet punk and indie house show headed up by Devil Wears Prada post-punk offshoot God Alone, iconic hard rock group CKY at The Basement East, buzzy local indie pop singer Athena at a stacked East Room show, Canadian blues rock faves The Sheepdogs at 3rd & Lindsley, and so much more! Read on for all of our top picks and more details in our latest installment of This Weekend in Nashville!
